study 2: quantitative survey

The second step of the research compares the `Constant Travellers` with other groups of travellers to prove and support findings from explorative interviews (study 1) by using quantitative research. A carefully designed set of questionairess were included into an interactive installation / on-line project " Data Record of Mobile Identities" ( see more >> http://mobile-identities.info ).

The travellers were kindly asked for voluntary participation in the survey and the project by filling out a " 5 minutes Travel Form" consiting of 17 multiple choice questions. These questions are about traveller`s mobility patterns, use of mobile devices during travel, their perception of the airport space and in particular their experience at the security/border controlls. Anonymous Data Record Card is generated based on filled travel form and can be view in public data record *)

The survey was conducted in two different contexts; an exhibition " Lucid Fields" at ISEA 2008 in Singapore and using the Institute for Psychology local databank of Swiss volunteers. The data from two different contexts was collected and compared. It seemed that the exhibition provided more variety of `constant travellers`, while the volunteers from the psychology databank yielded a large quantity of results in very short time but less variety of profiles.

Researcher/artist ensured confidentiality of the participant's identity and data throughout the conduct and reporting of the research. Participant can change and withdraw from the project at any time by editing or deleting his/her data. (access code will be assigned).
